Mission Statement

We are committed to ensuring that black youth makes their voice heard at the table during social and political conversations, and empowering black youth as they assume leadership positions and develop into a movement.

Issues

Together, we campaign for all issues affecting black youth including student loans, voter suppression, law enforcement, and HBCU funding. We believe that access to a network of like-minded students that share our culture strengthens us against oppression and needs to be supported.

HBCU Foundation

In addition to being a unique, one of a kind experience designed to benefit black youth everywhere, HBCU institutions are essential to securing the futures of each generation of black students. They encourage security, community, identity, and deserve funding equal to their PWI counterparts.

Fighting for Equity

Every one of our initiatives places a focus on one end goal — liberty and justice for all. Until there are no communities that suffer from the effects of oppression and negligence, there is a hole in the very founding principles of our nation. We fight not only for those communities, but for the ability to turn the tide.

Voting Rights
Counteracting Suppression

Recent studies reveal that voter suppression laws and manipulations in over 30 states could stop up to 3 million people from accessing the ballot in competitive states in the general election. This affects mostly communities of color, students, seniors, women, people with disabilities, and low income citizens. While the threats to democracy are more serious than ever, people of conscience in Congress and in communities around the country are mobilizing for unprecedented action inside and outside of government. The stakes are higher than ever. With the issues of mass incarceration, poverty, immigration reform, social, gender, economic and environmental justice in balance, the consequences of electoral malfeasance are incalculable. We cannot allow voter suppression to be the new norm. We must build a resistance movement to fight back against this new Jim Crow, and we must restore the Voting Rights Act.

Student Voices
Hearing Black Youth

What we have learned over time is that students have a wide range of concerns that don't get proper attentions from institutions and the government at large. Due to their nature as "students' issues," many causes that our college students organize around are not taken seriously, which has had a muting effect on student voices. In addition to voting rights, it is our goal to empower students to make change and bring their concerns to the table in a way that allows them to be heard, and allows the proper representation to catch on and turn these concerns into actionable strategies.

Pillars of Strength

The
Movement

These values are present everywhere our movement is found..

Equity

Though our movement is centered around the empowerment of black youth, we still hold firmly the belief that everyone, everywhere deserves an opportunity to decide their destiny.

Life

Life free from interference from the powers that be is open to fulfilling choices, educational freedom, and economic opportunity. That is democracy in its purest form.

Liberty

The ability to be a part of the decision making process for our community is the most basic form of political involvement. Anything less is to be excluded from our democracy.

Happiness

The reason that we continue to empower black youth to join the fight for equity is to one day see the end of it, and to live knowing the security that we demand.
